Purpose of the Position:
To support Human Appeal Pakistan Office in driving the organization’s growth through proactive management and coordination for Business Development and strategic partnerships. The role holder will be responsible for securing funding and developing strong relationships with institutional donors, trusts, foundations, and the corporate sector in Pakistan.
Job Responsibilities:
Partnership Development, Strategy & Planning (25%):
- To provide periodic analysis for the funding landscape in the country, new funding trends and donors’ funding priorities.
- Lead the development and implementation of Partnership Development strategy to enhance Human Appeal’s ability to attract funding from diverse sources while ensuring coordination across fundraising efforts.
- Proactively develop and maintain strong donor relationships, gaining a deep understanding of donor priorities and strategies to align funding opportunities with programmatic goals.
- Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with key institutional donors, particularly the UN agencies, Provincial governments, FCDO, Global Affairs Canada, GIZ, GGP Japan and the corporate sector organizations in Pakistan.
Programme Development (35%):
- To support donor mapping through gathering related donors’ intelligence and identifying new potential donors for HA humanitarian and development projects.
- To develop donors’ detailed profiles related to institutional donors (i.e, UN agencies, ECHO, US State Department, etc), mainly based on their thematic and geographical preferences as well as their regulations and eligibility criteria.
- To develop donors’ detailed profiles related to Trusts and Foundations as well as the private sector. This includes Coca-Cola, IKEA, OPEC, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ford foundation etc.
- To identify new funding opportunities, in line with HA capacity and priorities, regularly.
- To ensure maintaining up-to-date donors’ due diligence and compliance.
Grant Management and Compliance (30%)
- Keep up-to-date with donor regulations and communicate any changes to relevant staff.
- Provide orientation sessions for staff and partners entering into new donor contracts, with specific reference to compliance.
- Work with programme and finance teams to develop efficient financial tracking and reporting systems for all donor contracts.
- Keep all relevant staff informed about the progress of contracts throughout the grant cycle.
- Ensure all grant files are maintained and organised for planning and preparation of donor reports.
- Coordinate and follow up on grant inception, review and close-out meetings.
Capacity Building (10%)
- Provide training to staff and partners on topics including proposal development, budgeting, report writing and donor compliance requirements.
- Advise programme teams on capacity development for partners on donor compliance.
- Advise programme teams on how to comply with audit and expenditure verification requirements and provide quality assurance on the maintenance of project files.
Qualification & Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s in international development or a related field.
- 7-10 years of working experience in the field of the development Sector. 3-5 years of relevant experience is essential.
- A proven track record of securing funding from high-profile institutional donors like UN Agencies, ECHO, US State Department, GIZ or SIDA etc.
- Track record of securing funding from corporates, trusts and foundations.
- Experience in devising donor scooping reports as well as a solid understanding of donors’ due diligence and compliance requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and a strong understanding of the Institutional Funding landscape.
- Solid understanding of the local and global funding landscape.
- Ability to identify business development opportunities and mobilise internal stakeholders to fully capitalise on these opportunities.
- A high level of financial literacy – ability to understand and summarise financial information, develop budgets and demonstrate value for money in proposals.
- Strong proposal development skills and familiarity with the processes of responding to funding bids/opportunities
- Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation, persuasion, interpersonal and networking skills that result in the production of clear and persuasive proposals and donor relations
- Track record in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with donors.
- Strong experience in project design, project proposal development and writing.
- Essential: MS Office, advanced Excel. A good understanding of Salesforce is desirable.
- Fluent English is essential, and fluency in an additional language reflecting Human Appeal’s global presence (i.e. Arabic, Urdu) is desirable.
